The Struggle Between Faith and Flesh

Updated: Aug 14

In our journey toward holistic well-being—embracing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health—we confront the persistent battle within: the flesh's inherent opposition to the Spirit of the Lord. As Paul reminds us in Galatians 5:17, "For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh." This blog seeks to illuminate this struggle, offering insights and strategies to help you live in harmony with God's design, balancing the demands of the body with the call of the Spirit.

The Struggle Between Faith and Flesh

Living a faith-filled life in today’s world can feel like swimming upstream. The Word of God calls us to trust Him wholeheartedly, to cast our anxieties on Him, and to live in the peace that the Holy Spirit provides. Yet, the world around us preaches a message of self-reliance, control, and suppression of our anxieties. This stark contrast between spiritual truths and worldly values sets the stage for a profound internal conflict.

The Bible clearly illustrates this struggle. Romans 7:18-19 poignantly captures the human condition: "For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing." This verse highlights the perpetual tug-of-war between our flesh, with its earthly inclinations, and the Spirit, which seeks to guide us toward God's will.
